final project part 4

for my final project i decided to make seven videos. the videos are meant to be played at the same time in full audio, but that may not work on this blog. All of the material chosen for the videos are related to advice. how to videos and interviews make up most of the content. each video also has several proverbs/adages included in it.

this project is designed to saturate its audience with opinionated content. i wanted to present media that viewers generally accept as truth in a way that made them pay attention to the real message. what is often accepted as truth in a culture is accepted because it is engrained in a people through subtlety and tradition to the point that the message becomes irrelevant and ironically, untrue.

final project for 106

voice video

this is taken from a band's performance at fridays on the porch in front of the carolina inn.

blonde redhead music video

this is a music video i made for our constraints project. we had to give ourselves three constraints before we shot and edited the video. mine were:
1)no shot in the video can last longer than 5 seconds.
2)every shot has a pair of complimentary colors as the primary colors in the scene
3)the actors were only given the word "vertigo" before they had to act for the video

the final product is set to blonde redhead's "mother." thank you claire, peter and chloe for the acting skills!

exploration: 1995 volvo

here is a drawn out exploration of my dirty and endearing hunk of metal

the shadow lumiere

lumiere videos

these are lumiere videos. the restraints:
1) only a minute long
2) no movement of the camera
3)no editing

big hair and boy george (not mutually exclusive)

these are some adding and removing exercises from photoshop. the top picture is a 60's magazine cover with my face photoshopped in. if only big hair were easy.

below that is a boy george and rush limbaugh mishmash. do you really want to hurt me rush? DO YOU?

NAKED!!!

for this project, we were required to take at least 150 photos in a sequence. the photos were supposed to tell a story. i tried to capture the story of mankind in my sequence. chloe and fiona's unabashed willingness to bare it all didn't hurt.

over the course of the sequence, prehistoric man and woman discover agriculture, togas, art, religion, old fashioned book learning, and most importantly, macs.

scan and stitch

so this here is fun. these two images use a process called scanning and stitching, where you take a lot of overlapping pictures, upload them to the computer, and wait for photoshop to sort through them all and turn them into one high res picture.

here's the backyard at the st. a's house (80 pictures)

and here's the party room (76 pictures)

i really like the distortion you get from stitching. it's like having a really wide angle lens without having to deal with changing lenses or buying another piece of equipment. woot!

hybrids and composites (photoshop adventures)

in art 106 our first assignment was to make a composite of at least 7 faces, and then use some of the photos to create mutated and freakish hybrids. here is the result.
chloe and laura. (isn't a shame we aren't reproducing?)
adam g and clare. hot tranny mess.
ben and peter. the indiest baby to crawl the earth.
peter and fiona. a boy i want to date.
adam g and laura. no words to describe it, but it could probably still charm the
pants off any lady. thanks dad!
